About Functional Medicine at Apollo Health

Functional medicine is a different way of thinking about health. Instead of asking, “What diagnosis fits these symptoms?” we ask, “Why is the body struggling in the first place?”

At Apollo Health, functional medicine is about understanding how the body’s systems work together and identifying what’s disrupting that balance. Most patients who find us have already exhausted conventional options—years of unanswered questions, medications that managed symptoms without creating real improvement, and providers who never looked deep enough.

Our standard is clarity, clinical precision, and measurable progress.

    What Is Root-Cause Care?

Root-cause care means looking beneath symptoms to identify the underlying drivers of illness or dysfunction. Symptoms are signals—not random events.
Rather than suppressing those signals, functional medicine works to understand…
How the immune system is responding
How the gut, hormones, and nervous system are functioning
Whether inflammation, infections, nutrient deficiencies, or neurological stressors are involved
How lifestyle, stress, past injuries, or environmental factors may be contributing

By addressing the why, we create care plans designed to restore function—not just manage problems indefinitely.

What Conditions Can Functional Medicine Address?

Functional medicine is especially helpful for chronic, complex, or recurring conditions that don’t respond well to conventional one-size-fits-all care.

    Autoimmune Conditions

These include Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and other inflammatory or immune-driven conditions. Our approach focuses on immune regulation, inflammation control, gut-immune connections, and nervous system balance.

    Gut Health Issues

Digestive health plays a central role in overall wellness. We address concerns such as heartburn, bloating, IBS-type symptoms, SIBO, food sensitivities, and chronic digestive discomfort by identifying microbial imbalances, inflammation, and functional breakdowns in digestion.

    Chronic Fatigue and Low Energy

Persistent fatigue is rarely “just stress.” Functional medicine evaluates metabolic function, hormone signaling, nutrient status, immune load, and neurological stress to uncover why the body isn’t producing or sustaining energy.

Neurological Concerns, Cognitive Decline, and Concussion

Brain fog, memory issues, post-concussion symptoms, balance problems, and cognitive decline often involve complex interactions between the brain, nervous system, inflammation, and circulation.

    Lyme Disease and Chronic Infections

Tick-borne illnesses and chronic infections can place a long-term burden on the immune and nervous systems. Functional medicine allows for a deeper assessment of immune response, inflammation, detoxification capacity, and neurological impact.

What to Expect When Working with Dr. Giudice

Your care at Apollo Health begins with time, attention, and a thorough evaluation. Dr. Giudice starts with a comprehensive new patient examination lasting approximately one hour.

After this information is gathered, you’ll have a Report of Findings appointment where Dr. Giudice will walk you through:

What was identified during your evaluation
How those findings relate to your symptoms
    Clear, logical recommendations for care
Most patients begin with care approximately two times per week for about six weeks. At that point, we reassess progress and determine next steps together.

    Is Functional Medicine Legitimate?

Yes—and it’s grounded in logic, science, and clinical experience.
Functional medicine is supported by organizations such as the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), which provides advanced training in systems-based, evidence-informed care.

It makes sense to ask why the body is struggling. It makes sense to connect the dots between systems. And it makes sense to design care that supports healing rather than endless symptom management.
